Our Program

The Center is currently divided into three age groups: Kindergartners and 1st graders, 1st / 2nd graders and 3rd / 4th / 5th graders. The children arrive at the Center after a relatively rigorous academic day. We provide a safe, stimulating, and home-like environment in which children will feel relaxed and happy. We believe they need a non-competitive, supportive setting with choices of activities after their school day to cultivate creativity, friendship and community. Many activities may be occurring simultaneously, and the low (8:1 or 12:1) child:staff ratio enables us to give children individualized care and attention.

Kindergarten (September & Wednesdays)

Following a brief sharing/group time, we eat lunch together (parents supply lunch). Children are then free to play in all areas of the room, use a variety of arts and crafts materials, or join in a special activity. After clean-up and a nutritious snack, we go outside or to the gym. We often have special or thematic projects on these early days.

3rd, 4th, 5th graders

Our programs for 3rd grade, 4th and 5th Graders are designed to meet the needs of older school-aged children. Included in their afternoon is plenty of time outdoors or in the gym, a supervised homework time, and time for activities of their choosing. We encourage the creative exploration of many arts and crafts materials, and we often make our own snacks. Children are involved in hosting and leading more in depth thematic team activities at the Country school site. Special interest clubs such as art, theme related activities, jewelry-making, and chess are also part of our School-Agers’ afternoon.

kindergarten Program, 1st and 2nd grade program

Following a snack and brief meeting, our Kindergartners, 1st and 2nd graders go outside or to the gym. Special projects, such as chess, cooking, puzzles, games and arts and crafts, are also a part of our Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade afternoons. We have a second snack about 4:10, and then we wind down the day with board and card games, reading, and drawing.

special programs

CCW also offers special classes at the Woodland school site for grades K-2 such as karate, nature, yoga, chess, and art. Forms will go home and you will have the opportunity to sign up your Kindergartner through 2nd Grader for their favorite classes. These classes take place during the afternoon and carry an additional fee, which is set by the instructor.

News & Updates

October 2018

I am so thankful for CCW. I am a partner in a Boston law firm and I have two little children. CCW gave me the opportunity to maintain my career. Every day, I would pick up my son from CCW at 6 pm and he was excited and delighted to have had the social milieu of CCW at the end of his academic day. He developed advanced socialization skills beyond the typical student. He was consistently happy with the programming and social environment. My son was safe, my career stayed in tact, and we were both happy. Thank you CCw for five great years!
